I’VE GOT THE POWER!!!

Do you remember that 90s tune “I’VE GOT THE POWER!” by Snap!

Well, do you? HAVE THE POWER? And what the fuck does that mean anyways!?

I remember looking up the ETYMOLOGY of the word power. It comes from the LATIN – ‘PODERE’ - which means ‘TO BE ABLE’.

To be able.

How cool is that?!

So, essentially TO HAVE POWER is TO HAVE THE ABILITY TO DO, OR BE, something.

It makes me think of the word RESPONSIBILITY. To have THE ABILITY TO RESPOND.

Or ADAPTIBILITY. To have THE ABILITY TO ADAPT.

And so on. You get the picture.

So, our first question is, WHAT ABILITIES DO YOU KNOW THAT YOU HAVE? You could call these your SUPERPOWERS!!

Power is also connected to a sense of something BEING FULLY CHARGED. We connect our phones etc into POWER SOCKETS or SOURCES. We talk about STANDING ON THE EARTH with bare feet and so CONNECTING TO THE EARTH’S GROUNDING and CHARGING POWER. There’s the POWER OF PRAYER, being CHARGED BY SPIRIT, FAITH & BELIEF.

You could say then that POWER IS A CURRENCY. In fact, it’s THE currency I feel that we have in this life!

It’s both the ELECTRIC & THE ELECTRICITY!

It’s A POTENT FORCE to be handled with care. TOO MUCH and we get FRIED & BURNT OUT. TOO LITTLE and we AIN’T GOT ENOUGH JUICE in our tank.

POWER IS A CHARGE. Its charged. It glows. WE GLOW WHEN WE’RE IN OUR POWER! And it's magnetic as fuck. We know when we’re in the presence of someone who is in their power!

ARE YOU PLUGGED IN BABES?

So, what about when we speak about GIVING AWAY OUR POWER, or LETTING IT BE TAKEN?

Let’s look at some of these ways:

*When we SWALLOW DOWN OUR WORDS.

*When WE SAY YES WHEN WE MEAN NO. And vice versa.

*When we HIDE THE FULL TRUTH.

*When we DON’T LET OURSELVES FEEL FULLY EXCITED by something. Like a kid. LIKE THE FOOL. The INNOCENT ONE. The clown. So open.

*When we TRY TO BE PERFECT instead of FALLIBLE, HUMAN & FLAWED.

*VICTIM MENTALITY / CONSCIOUSNESS takes our power. On the other side of this dynamic, so does ARROGANCE & FALSE PRIDE.

*NOT BEING FULLY COMMITTED takes our power. A SAFETY MECHANISM. A protection to avoid disappointment. Failure. All of the possible risks.

*When we PLACE OUR SOVEREIGNTY, our TRUE AGENCY and AUTHOR-ITY to someone else. As if they know what’s best for us.

*When we SEPARATE PARTS OF OURSELVES, we're literally diminishing our power. We do this thro SHAME. Avoidance. Protection. And not taking full responsibility for our part.

Do you know HOW YOU DIMINISH, GIVE, or LET, others take your power?

How can we RECOGNISE & RECLAIM OUR POWER? Where can we look to define & refine it?
